Oral and maxillofacial surgery in Tabriz, for patients outside Iran.
This page is for travellers, visitors and Iranians living abroad who may need dental implants, wisdom tooth surgery, jaw surgery or care for a jaw or facial problem, and who want to be seen by Dr. Ali Mortazavi, a dentist and oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Tabriz. It explains what to collect before you come and how to reach the support team.
Before you travel
Gather what you have. Clear copies or phone photos are fine to start with.
- Your OPG (panoramic X-ray) or CBCT scan, as image files or on a disc, and the radiologist's report if there is one
- Any referral letter from your dentist, orthodontist or doctor, and a short note on why you were referred
- A list of every medicine and supplement you take, with names and how long you have taken them, especially blood thinners, bisphosphonates and diabetes or heart medicines
- Your allergies, especially to medicines or anaesthetics, and your long-term conditions
- Any earlier dental or jaw surgery, implants or hospital stays, with dates
- Photos of the area that worries you, and a short timeline of when the problem started
The way to send these documents is still being confirmed. For now, call the international support line: +989302272111

Practical questions
Can a treatment plan be made from my images alone?
Not usually. Your images and records help the doctor understand your situation, but a plan comes after an examination and the right images, and the doctor explains the options and risks to you first.
Should I stop or change my medicines before I travel?
No. Keep taking your medicines as prescribed and do not stop or change any of them without the doctor who prescribed them. Tell the surgeon about all of them, and bring the list.
How long would I need to stay in Tabriz?
It depends on the treatment and the visits you need. The doctor can tell you after the first visit. Ask about follow-up before you book your return trip.
I have swelling, bleeding or trouble breathing or swallowing. Can I wait until I travel to Tabriz?
Please do not wait. Trouble breathing or swallowing, fast swelling of the floor of the mouth or neck, or heavy bleeding that will not stop needs emergency care where you are, right now. Call your local emergency number. See the list of urgent signs in the guide.
What about language, fees and insurance?
These are not confirmed yet and are listed above as awaiting details. Please do not assume anything until they are confirmed.
What number do I call in an emergency?
115 is Iran's emergency number. It works only while you are in Iran. From abroad, use your local emergency number.
Every patient's situation is different; ask your doctor about your own.
